Rep Gladiator Olympic Bar

Overview

The Gladiator is Rep Fitness's purpose-built Olympic weightlifting bar, aimed at lifters who actually snatch and clean-and-jerk rather than just wanting a bar that can do a little of everything. The 28mm shaft matches the men's IWF spec and delivers the high whip that experienced weightlifters rely on to load the bar through the bottom of a pull and let it rebound out of a catch. Eight needle bearings per side, rather than bushings, give the sleeves the fast, free spin that keeps the bar from torquing your wrists when it rotates around in a clean or jerk. Knurling is moderate without a center knurl, which keeps it kind to the neck and chest during front rack and overhead positions. Dual knurl marks reflect its competition-oriented design. The trade-off for all this Olympic specialization is that the bar is too whippy and the spin too loose to feel ideal under a heavy static squat or deadlift, so it is not the bar for a powerlifting-focused gym. At well under 300 dollars with needle bearings, it undercuts many competing Olympic bars and represents strong value for the discipline. If your training centers on the lifts, the Gladiator earns its place.
